Magnetocaloric Cooling and Its Working

What do you know about Magneto Caloric cooling?

All the types of magnetic materials get heated up when they are subjected to magnetic field and becomes cooler when they are removed from the magnetic field. So we can clearly say that magnetic field causes heat energy to produce in the materials. But for conventional heat pump the principle used for both heating and freezing or cooling is ” All the types of fluids will be evaporated it wearing temperatures and pressures. “

Normally the type of material that is used in conventional heat pumps are freon or Ammonia where in magnetic heat pump magnetic solid will be used as a refrigerant. This is the only difference between Magneto Caloric cooling and the original one.

Magnetic heat pump consists of gadolinium refrigerant assembly generator and an electromagnet. It is used as a magnetic material as it can withstand large changes in temperature when it is applied to the magnetic field immediately or taken off and the magnetic field. The material will not get damaged with this happenings.

Re-generator is used as a diameter tube in which fluid is filled. The gadolinium refrigerant assembly consists of something plates in it which are then assembled in a cylindrical container and the whole thing is suspended with the refrigerator which is filled with the same quantity of water and alcohol in it. Superconducting magnet in the shape of a doughnut is surrounded with the generator and as a position of refrigerant container.

In this magnetic heat pump re-generator acts as a moving path which is driven up and down electrically. Due to the action, when the gadolinium is at the hot and of free generator it gets heated up heating the surrounding fluid since the magnet is turned on. In the similar manner when the gadolinium is at the cold end, it gets schooled up absorbing the heat from the surrounding fluid since the magnet is turned off and by repeating the process, the temperature is turned off and increases meanwhile decrease in the temperature at the cold end.

Hence the temperature range achieved in the this cooling is 40 degree centigrade at the short end and -40 degree centigrade at the cold end.
